    Description

Antique vintage sewing kit fold out needle case etui English circa 1900.
This is a rare English fold out needle case kit with four printed cardboard and satin panels surrounding the four sides of the kit.  The size of the kit is 4 1/2 inches high by 3 inches wide.  Each panel depicts a delightful scene of England from days long ago-- a country cottage, windmill, market street shoppers, a barn yard.
When the top cover is lifted back, the side panels fold out to reveal a wonderful assortment of Abel Morrall's needles, double longs, darners, and sharps.  Four smaller inner panels also unfold to reveal assorted Flora Macdonald sewing needles and darners for silk hose, made at Redditch England. All the needles are displayed on a lovely blue satin fabric.
In the very center is a small pincushion of the blue satin fabric which when removed reveals a metal thimble with a golden wash, size 10, having a delicate design around the rim, no holes and in the round. There is additionally an undamaged paper tape measure, 36 inches, stamped "Made in England."
This English sewing etui is in lovely antique condition commensurate with its age.  There is some minor staining and a slight loss of the decorative paper trim on the top, all of which I attempted to document with my photos.
This has been part of my personal collection of antique sewing items for many years.
