International Union of the United Brewery Workmen of America
(1903-1917)
Early 20th century enameled metal lapel pin (3/4 inch diam.). The National Union of Brewery Workmen was founded in 1886. It affiliated with the American Federation of Labor in 1887 and was chartered as an industrial union. In 1903 the union changed it's name to the International Union of the United Brewery Workers of America. In 1917 the union again changed its name to the International Union of Brewery and Soft Drink Workers. German's were the largest element of the union in the 19th and early 20th centuries and the union was active in socialist politics into the 20th century.
